TEELT EN TECHN I EK / CU LTIVATION AND TECHNOLOGY PotatoEurope 2017 Innovation Award: voor de meest opzienbarende toekomstgericht oplossing voor de aardappelsector for the most spectacular, future-orientated solution for the potato sector Tijdens PotatoEurope zal ook de uitslag van de Innovation Award bekend worden gemaakt. Diverse bedrijven uit de sector hebben ruim voorafgaand aan de beurs de kans gekregen om noviteiten uit de eigen bedrijvigheid in te zenden naar de organisatie van de vakbeurs. Er kwamen in totaal 26 inzendingen binnen. Een deskundige jury met hierin NAO-directeur Dick Hylkema, Aardappellector Peter Kooman en Aardappelwereld magazine-hoofdredacteur Jaap Delleman, heeft de inzendingen inmiddels beoordeeld en hieruit vijf kandidaten genomineerd voor de finale-uitslag. The winner of the Innovation Award will also be announced during PotatoEurope. Well before the opening of the event, various companies from the sector have been given the opportunity of submitting to the organisation of the trade show innovations relating to their own activities. There were 26 entries. An expert panel of judges, with Dick Hylkema, NAO Director, Peter Kooman, Potato lecturer and Jaap Delleman, Editor of Potato World, has now judged the entries and nominated five candidates for the final winner. De genomineerde inzendingen die voor de Innovation Award in aanmerking komen zijn BASF met 1,4 SIGHT, JASA met 2 in 1 Pack, Weststrate met MagGrow, Solentum met Solgrader en Tolsma Grisnich met 5M. De inzendingen zijn beoordeeld op de criteria innovatie, marktpotentieel, inventiviteit en duurzaamheid. Zowel de jury alsook de bezoekers van PotatoEurope zullen uiteindelijk gaan bepalen wie van de vijf genomineerden als winnaar uit de bus rolt. Bezoekers kunnen voorafgaand aan de beurs vanaf eind augustus tot en met 10 september hun voorkeur via de website www.potatoeurope.nl melden. De uitreiking is op 13 september tussen 09.15 uur en 10.00 uur op de beurs. BASF met 1,4SIGHT De kiemrustverlenger 1,4SIGHT is sinds de zomer van 2015 toegelaten in Nederland voor consumptieaardappelen. De toelating in Europa heeft lang op zich laten wachten vanwege een verscherping van het eisenpakket door de toelatingsinstanties. In de kiemremmer zit de actieve stof 1,4 dimethylnaphtalene. Het is een niet­geformuleerd product met volgens de fabrikant tot 100 procent puur actieve stof. Deze stof komt van nature voor in de aardappel en is daarin verantwoordelijk voor de kiemrust. Hiermee zijn aardappelen het gehele seizoen kiemvrij te bewaren. BASF laat weten dat het middel de natuurlijke kiemrust verlengt en dat de kwaliteit van de aardappel op niveau blijft. The Award will be presented at the Show on 13 September between 9.15 and 10 a.m. BASF with 1,4SIGHT The sprouting inhibitor 1,4SIGHT was admitted for consumption potatoes in the Netherlands during the summer of 2015. It took a long time before this product was admitted because of a tightening up of the list of demands by the licencing authorities. The sprout inhibitor contains the active substance 1,4 dimethylnaphtalene. It is a non­formulated product with a pure active substance of up to 100 percent according to the manufacturer. This substance is naturally found in the potato and is responsible for dormancy. Potatoes can be stored without sprouting during the entire season. BASF has reported that the product lengthens the natural period of dormancy and that the quality of the potato remains unchanged.
