Dan is ook de inmiddels bekende Alexia in het veld aanwezig. De Alexia heeft hoge opbrengst en is door een goede kiemrust lang te bewaren tot ver in de maand juni. Ook is er nog volop aandacht voor de Maritiema. Dit is tot nu toe het meest succesvolle ras van Schaap Holland. Dit is vooral te danken aan de brede afzet. Het ras is namelijk zowel zeer geschikt om te verpakken als verse tafelaardappel, als goed te verwerken tot frites en doet het ook prima in de export. Nog een ander succesvol ras van Schaap Holland is de Arcade. Deze is vergelijkbaar met een fritesras zoals Ramos. Zeer goed bewaarbaar en heeft iets meer lengte in de knollen dan een Ramos. In Groot­Brittannië groeit inmiddels een aardig pootgoedareaal van het ras aangezien deze het goed doet in de Fish & Chips markt. Verder zijn nog een aantal potentiële nieuwe rassen met naam of onder nummer te bewonderen, met uiteraard de nodige toelichting door Schaap Holland. Another variety that is also in the field is the well­known Alexia. The Alexia has a high yield and, due to its long dormancy, it can be stored for a long time until well into the month of June. Voor studenten uit de agrarische sector of met interesse voor deze dynamische branche is op donderdag 14 september op het terrein van PotatoEurope een speciale route uitgestippeld. De functieroute leidt de studenten langs de deelnemers van het Agrofoodcluster te Emmeloord en geven een indrukwekkend beeld van de welke carrièremogelijkheden voor studenten in de aanbieding zijn in de aardappelsector. Verder is ook een virtual realityfilm over de aardappel te bekijken op stand B174 van Agrofoodcluster. Tijdens een drietal interactieve sessies op donderdag 14 september in de multifunctionele ruimte van Potato Europe 2017 kun je als student meedenken en discussiëren over de thema’s Future, Space & Virtual. Om 11.00 uur begint het thema Future, gepresenteerd door Bart Götte van Futureflock, om 13.00 uur staat het thema Space op de agenda, verwoordt door Hein Noorbergen (NLR) & Peter Holster (Akkeranalyse) en om 15.00 uur start de sessie Virtual, uitgelegd door Saco Koelma van VR Producties. Op de Agrofoodcluster Facebook pagina staan alle updates om op de hoogte te blijven van al het nieuws over de activiteiten tijdens de PotatoEurope studentendag.
